Vadodara: Over 200 enthusiasts and cricket players of Baroda Sports Club on Wednesday offered prayers at a cricket ground in Baroda for Team India's victory over Australia in the World Cup quarterfinal match to be held in Ahmedabad on Thursday.
The fans performed some holy rituals and also offered namaz at the ground. A bat and stumps were kept on the pitch during the rituals.
Former Ranji trophy player Mehndi Sheikh, who coached Irfan and Yusuf Pathan, said, "It is for the first time such a large number of cricket loving fans players took part in this prayer on the eve of the quarterfinal match to be played between Australia and India."
"We pray to God that Sachin Tendulkar scores his 100th century in this match and Mahendra Singh Dhoni leads Indian cricket team to victory," a fan said.
